In Catholic parts of Germany and in Austria, this is done by so called <em>Sternsinger<\/em> (star singers), children, dressed up as the Magi, carrying the star. In exchange for writing the initials, they collect money for charity projects in the third world.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva;\">Project work of DKA &#8211; <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">Development includes every aspect of human life. Development cooperation intends to overcome injustice and oppression.<\/span><\/strong> <strong><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">DKA supports projects in the following fields:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>Education enables people to look at their own life situation, and take steps to bring about positive change.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>Social projects work with communities to find sustainable methods of meeting peoples&#8216; basic needs whilst also striving for long term peace and social improvement in the community.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>Pastoral programmes contribute to the establishment and promotion of active churches and their commitment to human concerns.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">Protection and promotion of human rights and of indigenous people as well as particular commitment to women issues are also important priorities of the project work.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva;\">The projects of DKA have to be planned and implemented together with the persons affected in order to achieve a long-term improvement.
