As unlikely as it seems, I discern a distinct connection between the debacle and justified humbling of FIFA – the self-proclaimed holy guardian of world football/soccer and of international sports generally – and the ill-timed, ill- advised and wrongheaded attempt by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel to attempt not to renew Shlomo Riskin’s tenure as Chief Rabbi of Efrat. Das ist der ASYLEXpress.
Vor wenigen Tagen erreichte uns die verzweifete Anfrage einer
Flüchtingsbetreuuerin in einem Wohnprojekt.
In meinem Wohnprojekt befinden sich 25 Flüchtinge verschiedener Nationen. 23 dieser Füchtlinge befinden sich schon seit mehr als 9 Monaten im Asylverfahren. Für mich ist es sehr schwierig ihnen dabei zuzusehen wie diese Menschen immer mehr ihre Träume und Hoffnungen aufgeben da sie keine Interviews und Bescheide vom BFA Linz bekommen.
Bei meinen Versuchen Informationen für meine Klienten vom BFA zu erhalten bin ich jedes mal gescheitert und habe teilweise Beschimpfungen über mich ergehen lassen um zu erfahren das im nächsten halben Jahr nichts passieren wird.
Weiters ist die Vorgehensweise des BFA vollkommen unerklärich – warum gibt es für mache ein Interview schon nach 2 Monaten, andere warten über ein Jahr. Manche bekommen positiv beim Interview – andere warten schon länger als ein halbes Jahr.
Wie soll ich das meinen Klienten erklären?

Wir haben die schnellsten Asylverfahren und damit auch den schnellsten Familiennachzug. Das führe dazu, dass Österreich Zielland Nummer 1 geworden ist in Europa. (…)
Viele andere Länder legen dabei die Hände in den Schoß und schauen Österreich bei den schnellen Verfahren zu.
(…) So kann das nicht weitergehen. Diese Schieflage wird stärker. Und diese Entwicklung ist inakzeptabel.
Daher braucht es Druck in Richtung anderer EU-Länder.
Das heißt, ich werde beim Innenministerrat verdeutlichen, dass wir den Asylexpress Österreich jetzt stoppen.
Und zwar solange, bis andere Länder in Bewegung kommen.
Ich sage aber auch ganz klar: Dabei geht es auch nicht nur um eine Strategie. Aufgrund des täglichen Zulaufs geht es operativ auch gar nicht mehr anders.
Wir müssen so ein deutliches Signal in Europa setzen. Sonst passiert nichts.
Natürlich werden nach wie vor neue Anträge angenommen und registriert.
Aber die Verfahren und damit auch der Familiennachzug wird gestoppt.
Es werden jetzt nur Dublin-Fälle bzw Rück- und Abschiebungen bearbeitet. Wir müssen unsere Attraktivität in Richtung anderer EU-Länder senken.“

Angesichts einer drastischen Zunahme eintreffender Flüchtlinge aus Syrien, dem Irak und aus Afghanistan erwägt die ungarische Regierung eine Schließung der Grenze zu Serbien. „Wir halten es nicht für richtig, dass sie uns die Flüchtlinge schicken, sie müssen auf serbischem Gebiet aufgehalten werden“, sagte Ministerpräsident Viktor Orbán heute dem staatlichen Rundfunk. „Wir ziehen alle Optionen in Betracht, darunter die Möglichkeit einer vollständigen Schließung der Grenzen.“ Eine Entscheidung könne am kommenden Mittwoch getroffen werden.

Juan E. Méndez, concludes that the Government of Ethiopa violated the right of British national Ali Adorus to be free from torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. The report concludes:
183. The Special Rapporteur thanks the Government of Ethiopia for its reply, dated 11 November 2014, to the present communication.
184. The Rapporteur takes note of the information provided by the Government that Mr. Ali Adorus’ case is up for decision.
185. The Rapporteur finds that the Government, in its reply, does not sufficiently address the concerns raised in the initial communication, thereby failing fully and expeditiously to cooperate with the mandate issued by the Human Rights Council in its resolution 25/13. The State similarly fails to comply with its obligation, under international customary law, to investigate, prosecute and punish all acts of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, as codified, inter alia, in the Convention against Torture (CAT). Specifically, no information is provided about Mr. Ali Adorus’ detention conditions before his transfer to Kaliti Prison, including the allegations that he was subjected to torture and ill-treatment. Additionally, sufficient information was not provided concerning the substance of materials used against Mr. Ali Adorus at trial, such as the alleged forced confession.
186. The CAT, which Ethiopia acceded on 14 March 1994, prohibits torture absolutely without exception in article 1 and prohibits the use of any evidence in any proceedings obtained under torture in article 15.
187. In the absence of convincing information to the contrary, the Rapporteur concludes that there is substance in the allegations presented in the initial communication, reiterated above, and thus, that the Government of Ethiopia has violated the right of Mr. Ali Adorus to be free from torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, as provided by articles 1 and 16 of the CAT.

As allegations of widespread corruption within world football’s governing body, FIFA, abound, José Ugaz, Chair of Transparency International (TI), will join the IBA for a live online interview on Wednesday 10 June 2015 at14.30 BST. Under Mr Ugaz’ leadership, TI has pledged to tackle corruption at major corporations and in sport, specifically calling on FIFA to publish its investigation into the decision to award the World Cup to Russia and Qatar.
During the live broadcast, Mr Ugaz will answer questions submitted by the audience watching online in real time.
A leading anti-corruption lawyer, Mr Ugaz will discuss the impact of corruption on communities across the globe and the ways his organisation works to tackle it. Mr Ugaz has said: ‘I know what corruption is and how to fight it. The corrupt need to see Transparency International as their biggest fear. Nobody is above the law.’
Prior to taking the helm of TI, the global coalition against corruption, in 2014, Mr Ugaz was president of the organisation’s chapter in Peru. His election to Chair was the first time in TI’s 21-year history that a leader of one of its chapters was chosen for the position.
When he served as Ad Hoc Attorney General of Peru, Mr Ugaz prosecuted hundreds of government officials. He led the corruption case against the former President of Peru, Alberto Fujimori, and his chief of intelligence, Vladimiro Montesinos. Mr Fujimori is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence.
