“Roy Villa” – Darjeeling (3 photos)
A historic agreement has been signed today amongst Government of West Bengal, GTA and Ram Krishna Mission regarding “Roy Villa” in Darjeeling, in presence of Swami Suhitanandaji, General Secretary, Ramkrishna Mission and Shri Bimal Gurung, Chief Executive, GTA.
Sister Nivedita used to live at ‘Roy Villa’ and breathed her last in 1911. Since then, it has been a 102-year old heritage landmark in Darjeeling.
It has been agreed that GTA would hand over the premises to the State Government for setting up of a Centre of Excellence in the name of “Ramkrishna Mission Nivedita Educational and Cultural Centre”. The Centre would be run by the Ram Krishna Mission and skill development and capacity building trainings for employment will be imparted to the youth.
We have announced a grant of Rs. One Crore for renovation of “Roy Villa”.
The State Government has also agreed to hand over the Tenzing Norgay Youth Hostel to the GTA. A grant of Rs. One Crore would be given for renovation of the youth hostel.

ORF und NACHBAR IN NOT starten Hilfsaktion für Flüchtlinge und Vertriebene aus Syrien
Die Flüchtlingsströme aus Syrien nehmen täglich zu – das Ausmaß des Leids ist unvorstellbar, die Menschen brauchen dringend Hilfe!
In Syrien herrscht ein blutiger Bürgerkrieg, der täglich neue Opfer fordert. Laut UHNCR werden in den Nachbarländern täglich 7.000 neue Flüchtlinge registriert. Millionen Menschen, die meisten davon Frauen und Kinder, brauchen dringend Hilfe. 70.000 Menschenleben hat der Konflikt bisher gefordert, täglich werden in Syrien auch Buben und Mädchen getötet oder verwundet, viele fliehen in die Nachbarländer, oft ohne ihre Eltern. Die verschiedenen NACHBAR-IN-NOT-Hilfsorganisationen sind seit Beginn der Krise im Frühjahr 2011 im Einsatz, um die betroffenen Menschen zu unterstützen. Um die bestehenden Hilfsaktivitäten aufrechtzuerhalten und um dringend notwendige, zusätzlich Hilfe leisten zu können, fehlen aber die Mittel.
Deshalb haben der ORF und die unter dem Dach von NACHBAR IN NOT arbeitenden Hilfsorganisationen – Caritas, Rotes Kreuz, Diakonie, CARE, Hilfswerk Austria, Volkshilfe, Malteser Hospitaldienst und Arbeiter Samariterbund – für Montag, dem 6. Mai 2013, den Start der Hilfsaktion „NACHBAR IN NOT – Flüchtlingshilfe Syrien“ bekanntgegeben und bitten um Spenden auf das Aktionskonto 400 400 440 00 (BLZ 20111).
Der ORF unterstützt die Hilfsaktion mit Spendenaufrufen und Berichterstattung in allen Medien und Landesstudios. In den „Zeit im Bild“- und „heute“-Sendungen sind aktuelle Berichte der ORF-Korrespondent/innen geplant, die Magazine „Orientierung“, „Thema“ und „Weltjournal“ bringen Reportagen, Berichte, Analysen sowie Dokumentationen aus der Krisenregion. Die ORF-Radios berichten in ihren Nachrichten- und Journalsendungen und bitten ebenfalls um Spenden.
