Al-Sisi met President Francois Hollande in France in November 2014, and France subsequently sold Egypt 24 Rafale fighter jets and delivered the first 3 on July 21. In June 2015, al-Sisi met with Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on the same day that the German industrial company Siemens signed an 8 billion euro deal to supply gas- and wind-power plants to Egypt. The government of UK Prime Minister David Cameron has also invited al-Sisi to meet.

Transparency International, the global anti-corruption movement, condemns the trial and sentencing of Leyla Yunus, a human rights defender, and her husband and calls for their immediate release.
Leyla Yunus was convicted today for financial misconduct and sentenced to eight and a half years in prison and Arif Yunus was sentenced to seven years.
Transparency International believes that both should be released on humanitarian grounds and because the conditions for a fair trial fall far short of internationally accepted standards.
“Leyla and Arif Yunus must be freed. Transparency International condemns the courts for pursuing what is clearly a politically motivated legal action. Leyla and Arif are unwell and have been badly treated in prison. They must be set free immediately, not least so they can receive urgent medical care,” Anne Koch, regional director for Europe and Central Asia.
Transparency International joins with other human rights defenders condemning the trial and calls on the government of Azerbaijan to release the Yunus’.
“The trial of the Yunus’ should never have happened. It hurts all civil society in Azerbaijan,” said Koch.

Völlig abgetaucht ist jener Minister der in den kommenden Monaten am meisten zusätzliche Mittel brauchen wird, wenn vermieden werden soll, dass tausende anerkannte Flüchtlinge in prolongierter Abhängigkeit in Massenquartieren ond ohne Zugang zu (Aus)bildung leben müssen: Integrationsminister Sebastian Kurz.

In the Bretton Woods era, trade liberalization, the improvement of labour rights and working conditions, and the strengthening of environmental policies, were seen as mutually supportive. But is this always true? Can we continue to pretend to protect the rights of workers and to improve environmental protection, particularly through climate change mitigation strategies, within an agenda focused on trade liberalization? Is it credible to pursue trade policies that aim to expand the volumes of trade, without linking such policies to labour and environmental standards, seen as ’non-trade‘ concerns? This book asks these questions, offering a detailed analysis of whether linkage is desirable and legally acceptable under the disciplines of the World Trade Organization (WTO). It concludes that trade can work for sustainable development, but only if we see it as a means for social and environmental progress, including climate change mitigation, and if we avoid fetichizing it as an end to be pursued for its own sake..
