President Pranab Mukherjee leaves for Israel, Palestine, Jordan – The Economic Times
NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee today left on a six-day landmark visit to Israel and Palestine, becoming the first Head of Indian State to visit these two nations and providing an opportunity for him to impress upon the leadership there to reduce tensions.
A ceremonial send-off was accorded to the President. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, the three service chiefs and other bureaucrats were present to see off the President.
The President will meet King Abdullah and have extensive discussions on the entire gamut of bilateral relations, regional and international issues of mutual concern.
He will also visit the University of Jordan and address its students and faculty. He will also grace a function organised by Indian Ambassador in Amman for Indian community and Friends of India.

In the Ashkenazic selichot for Mussaf in the Yom Kippur service, we read of the ten martyrs of Israel in Roman times. Rabbi Akiva and his companions are described to us in detail, as is their manner of cruel execution and martyrdom. The Jewish world still is founded on the words, deeds and values of these great people. And the prayer service of Yom Kippur contributed to the Jewish retention of their memory and kept alive the flame of inspiration that they lit almost nineteen centuries ago. It also confirms the tenacity of the Jewish spirit. In effect, it states clearly on the holiest day of the Jewish year, the Jewish people intends to live on no matter what the difficulties it now endures and may yet be forced to endure. It was the memory of Rabbi Akiva, of the Jewish martyrdom throughout the ages, of the Holocaust of our times, of the terrorist murders that we suffer from now, that nevertheless gave Jews the strength to conclude the Yom Kippur services with the confident declaration: “Next year in Jerusalem rebuilt!” It is this subtle tale of Jewish history that is embedded in the Yom Kippur services that help grant it its majesty and meaning.

Bestattung von Opfern der Tragödie auf der A4
Auf der A4 starben Ende August 71 Menschen durch die Gewissenlosigkeit einer Schlepperbande. Diese Tragödie ist nicht vergessen – auch wenn seither das traurige Schicksal vieler Flüchtlinge die Schlagzeilen bestimmt.
Umfangreiche gerichtsmedizinische Untersuchungen fanden statt, wodurch sich die Beisetzung der Opfer verzögerte. Immerhin konnten nach der Identifizierung etliche Opfer bereits in den Irak überführt werden.
Am 7. Oktober um 14.00 Uhr sollen vier weitere aus Syrien stammende Opfer am Wiener Islamischen Friedhof (Großmarktstraße 2, 1230 Wien) beigesetzt werden. Drei Angehörige befinden sich derzeit in Wien und haben sich eine ehest mögliche Bestattung gewünscht, die nun nach der behördlichen Freigabe umgehend erfolgen soll.
Viele Musliminnen und Muslime meldeten sich unmittelbar nach Bekanntwerden der Katastrophe und wünschten durch ihre Teilnahme an der Beerdigung den Toten die letzte Ehre zu geben und ein Zeichen der Solidarität zu setzen. So möchten wir als Islamische Glaubensgemeinschaft auch sofort diesen Bestattungstermin bekannt geben, damit möglichst viele Menschen den Toten das letzte Geleit geben. Als Muslimen ist uns dies aus religiöser Sicht eine kollektive Pflicht (Fard Kifaya).

Nutzungsvereinbarung abschließen (ist mit 2% der Jahresmiete beim Finanzamt zu vergebühren), dann Wohnbestätigung ausfüllen und schnell um einen Termin im Asylzentrum der Caritas in der Marianengasse 11 (01 24 788- ) ansuchen. Sobald dies getan ist, wird der Flüchtling beim FSW gemeldet, der wiederum die Versicherung einleitet. Die Wohnunterstützung gibt es nur mit Mietvertrag, was aber nicht heißt, dass man niemanden aufnehmen kann – es gibt dann halt nur das Verpflegungsgeld und die Krankenversicherung. Bis das erste Geld kommt kann es ein paar Wochen (2 bis 3) dauern.
In Niederösterreich funktioniert es ähnlich. Die Wohnberatung des Diakonie Flüchtlinsdienst (0664 88982652) kümmert sich mit dem BMI darum. Was nicht geht: Wenn jemand in Wien (z.B.: Erdberg) ist den oder die privat in Niederösterreich aufnehmen.
Bankkonto gibts z.B. bei Bank Austria für AsylwerberInnen. Angeblich auch bei Erste Bank.

Contrary to medical ethics and also to police and Israeli Prison Service (IPS) regulations, a 13-year-old has been shackled to his bed at Hadassah Hospital for two weeks after being shot by Israeli security forces. The boy, a resident of Bethlehem, is under guard 24 hours a day.
This morning he was informed that his leg will be amputated due to irreversible damage to the muscles and nerves. Despite the fact that he is a minor under arrest in hospital, his mother was removed from the unit where he is hospitalized and the police did not allow her to enter the room where he is handcuffed to the bed with both hands. Israel has prevented his father from visiting him.
Physicians for Human Rights-Israel contacted the Israeli police and the IPS with an urgent demand that the handcuffs be removed. We also call on the Hospital’s medical staff to maintain and protect medical ethics by demanding the removal of the handcuffs and that the authorities allow his parents to visit him.
Yesterday the military court accepted his lawyer’s request for his release. However the prosecution appealed and the court allowed them 48 hours to explain why the boy should not to be released. His parents were fined NIS 7,000, and if they cannot raise this money he won’t be released.
